Summer 2018

Summer is upon us! O what a good feeling. The girls are still in school, but the weather is amazing and the sun shines until about 10:00 pm. No one around here is complaining. (Well maybe the girls complain a little about having to go to school).

Right now we have a lot going on. The church has been going great. I have never had such an amazing season in all of the last ten years we have been here. New people are coming, hearing the Gospel, getting integrated into the life of the church. Every Sunday we have people in the house until late at night because the unity in the church and the sweet harmony is hard to say no to. It's not all roses, but our work is a lot of fun right now. It's also a very multi-cultural group with a mix of languages. That takes extra effort to communicate, but it's also precious to us.

The FSJ discipleship team and I have been back from Moldova for a few weeks and back to everyday life. They're having to deal with the issue of what their futures hold. It's a constant question we deal with. Also, at the end of August we have to say goodbye to our good friends and colleagues, Feli and Tamara. It won't be easy and we're not looking forward to it, but we have another amazing young lady coming to work with us. We met Salome years ago as she was once a participant in our program. We always saw a lot of potential in her and now she's coming to the Elim Zentrum to make disciples with us. This should be good.

As a family, our girls are growing and thriving. Every now and then they have math, German, science or even English tests that create stress, but they are amazing young ladies who are strong, courageous, clever and beautiful among other qualities. They all enjoy going to Royal Rangers (scouts for Jesus) Fridays and getting dirty. They take a lot of Bird's energy.

We also have a lot of events planned for this summer. Street parties, BBQs, and a ten year anniversary party of the discipleship program  to which we invited all previous participants to come for a visit. After the lions share of the chaos is behind us, we want to squeeze a long awaited trip to Croatia in. I promised Bird to go to the Adriatic Sea some years ago and now they're coming to fruition. We're all really looking forward to it. It's supposed to be beautiful there.

Please pray for our family. Some days are tough and we often have so many irons in the fire that we don't have time to spend together. Over the next couple weeks, it will only get worse before it gets better. We need our supporters, friends and family to pray for us. Really. Thanks for reading.

Peace and love,

Mike
